Music Video Review: A.C.E.'s 'Take Me Higher'

First question: Does A.C.E. stand for something?

Answer: It does.

Adventures Calling Emotions

This group really reminds me of the girl group MAMAMOO. Both of their music videos are outrageously precise to who they are as a group. I'd labeled them as a male version of the girl group. But after researching more about them, I found out that this recent comeback was missing one member. Currently, the maknae of the group is a part of the boy group UNB, which was formed this year on the KBS reality show "The Unit."

Still though, the rambunctiousness in their music video can be put side by side with MAMAMOO's group charm.

Anyways, there were many significant aspects of the music video that should be noticed. One, their outfits. Two, the colors. Three, even though the music video was crazy and all over the place, the creativity and construction of it was unbelievable. Four, the choreography shots and close-ups.

To start, their outfits was really unique. Compared with the boy groups that I've seen in the past, not one member of another group showed as much skin as A.C.E. did. The group is known for their legs, because they always go for the "hot pants look," according to Soompi. Also the group, makes sure their legs are shaved and exfoliated on a daily basis. And in this comeback music video, their button-up shirts were styled in a way where their abdomens were easily seen. And one member wore a crop top. This took me by surprise the most.

Side note, what also took me by surprise was that along with a couple members of the group ONF, they were a part of a YG Entertainment reality show called "MIXNINE." This show did not debut any groups.

Back to the key points of the music video, the colors were really noticeable. To describe their music video's color is to say that it is a strawberry and banana smoothie. That's all.

Because of the colors in the music video along with the different clips of all the locations and ways the members were shown, this was very creative and amazing to watch. In the end, what stole the show were the camera shots: choreography snippets and members' close-ups. There was so much going on in just three minutes and 39 seconds. I was blown away. I questioned the ages of the members, because I don't listen to many older boy groups a lot. But apparently, A.C.E.'s debut was just last year and they were all born in 1993-1997.

With all that being said, the song was not in the forefront of my mind. I didn't listen to the music (for the first time ever), because I was so drawn into the members, the colors, the settings, and the background of each shot. I actually just watched the music video's progression. I don't think I would listen to them again, because of their overwhelming essence. I would rather listen to ONF, a group who also debuted in the same year as them.

They could be categorized as an "out there" type of group. I prefer listening to boy groups whose music videos are beautifully put together, not colorfully in your face. But they are really an intriguing boy group.

A.C.E....화이팅!

This is the only live performance of their song.
