I discovered GFriend in the end of 2017. They debuted in early 2015, so I missed out on a lot of their comebacks. Though BTS got me into K-pop and I found many, many other groups before GFriend, I really love these six members a lot. I swear to you that there was a point in my life where I didn't want to listen to female K-pop groups. I had the mindset of: "Alright, so Fifth Harmony is my favorite girl group and BTS is my favorite boy group. No one else is better, haha."
But time went by and after listening to a year's worth of just male K-pop groups (BTS, PENTAGON, and GOT7..just to name a few), it came to my attention that there is a TWICE song that I must, must give a listen. TWICE was group that I never knew existed, but I gave "Likey" (their comeback song in October 2017) a listen. I criticized them so much, because I was not used to non-American girl groups. It is kind of funny how they are what I listen to daily now. Anyways, I became a ONCE (TWICE's fandom name). Then I was YouTube searching all their past music videos, interviews, reality and variety show appearances, and even fan-made videos.
Then I came across a Weekly Idol (Korean variety show) episode with three other K-pop groups (along with TWICE). The episode was a year old. I noticed GOT7 was in it, so I starting to think "Oh my, I know K-pop, haha!" The other two groups were: BTOB and GFriend. I kind of knew who BTOB was, because they came from Cube Entertainment and guest starred on America's Next Top Model (the season when the contestants went to South Korea). So, I basically paid no attention to GFriend.
Weekly Idol is known for the show where K-pop idols can show themselves and have fun while promoting their songs. In this particular episode, the four groups took part in the ugly dance challenge, double speed dance challenge, make Heechul's heartbeat rise challenge, and more. As I was watching the close to an hour-long episode on YouTube with subtitles, I started to notice one of the members of GFriend. It was my soon-to-be bias. It has been a while since I watched that episode again, because I used to watch clips of the episode over and over again.
Of all the six members of GFriend, I noticed Yuju (my bias). For some reason, after watching that episode and re-watching it and re-watching it, I became drawn to her and the entire group. Their group dynamic, unique selves, bond as a group, and talents all put me into a trance. I never felt this way toward any other K-pop groups. Yes, I was obsessing over BTS and TWICE and PENTAGON at this time. But...
These six were something. They were different from the rest. They could be labeled as a "started from the bottom, now we're here" group. Similar to BTS, GFriend came from a small company. But they made it big, well made it in the Korean music industry. BTS is a whole other blog, since they are worldwide famous and handsome.
Due to the fact that I discovered GFriend around December of last year, I spent a lot of time getting to know them and catching up with all the released content. Though I was not at the beginning of their start, I began keeping up with them on everything social media. I became really into their music and their sound. Then when I found out that they were having a comeback two months ago (in April), I was filled with excitement. I was overly excited. I was extremely hyper and happy, a feeling I haven't felt fully in a long time.
So I guess, the main reason I love this group so much is that everything about them will always, even on the worst days of my life, put a smile on my face, be my light in the end the tunnel, and bring me unconditional euphoria.

More reasons:
#2: All of them has a illuminating beauty in terms of their passion, hard-working mindset, uniqueness, and voice. Each member's niche and contribution and part in the group and individuality is breathtaking.
#3: Yes, the main vocalist of the group is my bias. But, they all have admirable and memorable vocals and voices in general.
#4: Their live performances always slay. Coming from a small entertainment company, they manage to show others what they got and who they are.
#5: I LOVE THEIR BOND AS A GROUP! All the members really fit well together and always look out for each other. All combinations of pairs in the group are made by them and the fans, because each member does have a special bond with the other five.
