My two go-to groups: GFriend & Stray Kids |
Okay so I have something to say: I love K-pop. I honestly listen to it religiously. The genre of K-pop is so unbelievably awesome. With not only ground-breaking music video views, mind-blowing stage performances, awesome comeback concepts, emotion-evoking songs, incredible outfits, and unspeakably innovative dance moves, but beautiful stories of idols' dreams coming true. From the hard days of training for all that is included in the genre of K-pop, I enjoy the stories of idols behind the scenes. I do occasionally not care for their stories because I would rather just listen to their music. I love seeing growth in general. Not only in idols. In my surroundings as well. And in myself. But that is side-tracking from what I am talking about, so I have something to say: I am obsessed, overwhelming happy, ticked off (in a good way), and shaken by K-pop groups.
Sometimes
(only sometimes) I wonder why they are so many aspects in the K-pop
realm. In addition to music videos, stage performances, concepts, songs,
outfits, and dances, there are social media connections to these
groups, light sticks (a handheld object fans hold in support of a
particular group), fan chants (organized cheers for a group in their
live performances), photo cards (collectable cards of a group and each
person in that group), and so much more. For me, my favorite aspect
of K-pop—and in any music that I've heard actually, has always been the
voices that comes out of these human beings. I am talking about their
vocals and/or raps, but also their normal everyday talking voice. I
really love a person's voice. I am not sure about this, but I think
everyone's voices are different. To be honest, my eyes always deceive me
first. I'd take one look at an idol's visuals like facial features and
hair, then become drawn into their wonder. But after a while, I
get a feeling of the idol's voice and aura (two of which I am amazed by
the most). I could go into this more, but I would be speaking
philosophical nonsense.
The different outputs of K-pop music really wows me and that sole reason of beats, melody, and other sounds melted together into a listener's ear is the best feeling in the world. The sense of hearing is beyond imagination for a newborn or someone who cannot hear, however it shocks me to know that the ear is how we hear things. Anyone can use their eyes to indulged in the juiciest piece of meat or the most colorful dessert out there. Anyone taste the best food item on the planet. Anyone can feel odd and comforting textures, and anyone can sniff out a scent to their liking or discomfort.

But there is nothing compared to listening with our ears; yes, there are other species that listen better than us and heck, there are humbler humans that listen better than you. Our ears detect an infinite change in tone or pitch. Imagine your sense of hearing heighten over all other senses, wouldn't it be astounding? No matter the weather or mood, music (any music at all; any language at all) can/does amplify your existence and sensation of whatever it is you're doing at the moment. Sounds are extremely interesting, sure there are some unpleasant audio; for example, the sound of bad news or any screeching species.
Music makes anything increasingly greater and more effective. Whatever it is that wants to be conveyed to another person or a situation or a place, there are only two things that may do it best. In my opinion, they are: 1) immense description of it with words and 2) the production of varied sounds. Music, lately it has been K-pop only, gives me lightning-striking goosebumps. There is just something so complete about collective sounds, both complete and odd and mysterious.
To me, no matter how long a K-pop song is or how genuinely confusing a part of a music video gets or how irresistible incomprehensible the lyrics are, the sound of it and the look of it and it feeling or it will always be moving a part of something in me. I really love K-pop, especially the heartfelt songs. K-pop can bring every emotion out of you, by throwing you off by a K-pop idol's voice. K-pop can show and focus on and hide a jumble of meanings into any released content with intent, such as music videos and comeback concepts. Not behind the scenes videos or live streams, these are on the flip side of this crazy cool K-pop spectrum of products.
I love a good instrumental, not because one day I want to learn an instrument to hear it with the instrument. It's because sometimes the words get in the way of the slowly painted picture of a story or the story of the implied lyrics from the lyrics, based on their imagination and interpretation of how they see a certain song. I am always here to listen to the soothing K-pop tracks. It allows me to gradually release my tiredness and tension and time into reassuring voices of K-pop idols and lyrics and music.
Even though I love the music of the K-pop tracks, I also am fond of the lyrics. When the lyrics are sang, it is soul-cleansing. And when I read the translation of the Korean language, it is satisfying. After I started to make it an automatic daily task to listen to K-pop, I became invested in the entire background and backbone of it.
My favorite part of K-pop and music overall is a K-pop idol or an artist's high notes. I really enjoy listening to any K-pop idol that sings the high notes in their songs. I don't know the reason to why I like high notes so much, I just do. It is also like the fact that my favorite features are ears; I don't know why I like ears so much, I just do.
I love K-pop! And I know why I love K-pop.
